Folk-rocker Dan Bern At The Earlville Opera House Saturday
Published: June 6th, 2008

EARLVILLE – The Earlville Opera House welcomes folk-rock troubadour, Dan Bern, with his biting humor and intelligence at 8 p.m. on Saturday.  Bern is one of a generation of great songwriters (along with Matthew Ryan, Jeff Tweedy, Steve Earle, John Wesley Harding, and Ryan Adams). Multi-instrumentalist Peter Kuhn will accompany Bern.

“Like Loudon Wainwright, Dan Bern mixes pop culture with personal reflection, humor with cerebral eloquence. His acerbic wit can sometimes be a bitter pill to swallow, but in the blink of an eye he easily can shift gears to reveal the most intimately tender moments…Bern brandishes his songs with the folk-rock swagger of The Byrds and Bob Dylan, while adding in a touch of punk-rock angst à la Elvis Costello.  His melodies are bouncy and buoyant, and their sprightly nature is designed to rattle around in one’s brain, bringing out the sense of hope that flutters about in his disillusioned world.” The Music Box.
