Sherburne continues Bike Night tradition

SHERBURNE – The Sherburne Wheelers have joined forces with Gilligan’s Island again this season to offer the region a taste of ice cream with a side of motorcycle excitement, every Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m.

The Sherburne Wheelers, a non-profit organization led by Lex and Donna Danyluk, have partnered with Gilligan’s Island owner Mike Lagoe to sponsor “Bike Night,” an event, they say, drew in 150 to over 200 motorcycles each Wednesday last summer.

This year organizers said new approaches have been taken to help their region and their neighbors in need.

Each Wednesday evening, if arriving by motorcycle, individuals are handed a raffle ticket. Attendees can earn another free ticket by bringing a non-perishable food item to be donated to local food pantries. Drawings will be help at 7 p.m.

“You should see it, there are people arriving and taking canned foods out of bikes and backpacks,” said Donna. “It is really something great.”
