Norwich woman hits jackpot with “Win for Life”

NORWICH – A Norwich woman is $1 million richer today after hitting the jackpot with a scratch-off lottery ticket.

Diane Scheer, a 63-year-old Champion factory retiree, purchased the winning ticket March 13 at the Price Chopper Grocery Store in Norwich. Scheer explained that making the trip to Price Chopper was part of her normal routine. “Whenever I get bored, I go down and do some shopping,” Scheer said. Picking up a “Win for Life” ticket or two, she said, is also part of that routine.

The Norwich woman waited a few hours after she got home before she scratched the ticket and realized she had won the grand prize of $1,000 a week for the rest of her life. The prize guarantees a minimum $1 million pay out.
