No unnecessary travel

CHENANGO COUNTY – Due to the winter storm developing in the region and its potential to intensify later today, the Chenango County Director of Public Works Randy Gibbon is asking for no unnecessary travel on county roads. The county highway department will be out in force until 7 p.m. They will send the majority of the staff home until 3 a.m. However a couple of crews will stay on duty and work as needed.

A winter storm warning will remain in effect until 6 p.m. Wednesday. Snow will continue throughout the day with accumulations of two to four inches by this evening. The snow could mix with rain this evening before changing back to snow. The snow is expected to continue throughout the evening Tuesday and through the day Wednesday. Total accumulations of eight to twelve inches are possible.
