SHERBURNE – Police have announced an end to their homicide investigation involving a drug robbery after arresting the last of the co-conspirators Thursday afternoon.

James F. Bush, 46, 291 Burdick-Medbury Rd., Norwich, has been arrested and is charged with first degree burglary, attempted robbery and third degree criminal possession of a weapon, all felonies.

“The investigation is concluded into the shooting death of (Joshua D.) Richheimer. Law enforcement officers from all the agencies did a great job in putting this case together. All the participants have been arrested and are in jail,” said Chenango County Sheriff Thomas Loughren.

Robert R. Reynolds, 46, and Nicholas S. Simonds, 21 of Pleasant Valley Road, Sherburne have both been charged with tampering with evidence for attempting to hide the body. Reynolds will be facing additional drug and weapon charges said police.

Police believe Bush’s role in the crime was to drive Richheimer to Reynolds house. Bush provided Richheimer with the sawed-off shot gun used in the attempted robbery. Although the gun was eventually buried with Richheimer’s body by the defendants, police discovered other parts of the firearm at Bush’s home yesterday after carrying out a search warrant, said investigators.

Also discovered at the Bush residence was the black leather motorcycle jacket Richheimer was last seen wearing, said Loughren.
