NORWICH– With the price of college increasing year to year individuals studying law may have the oppurtunity to gain scholarships to ease some of the burden.

The Chenango County Bar Association has announced it is now accepting applications for its new law school scholarship.

At Chenango County Law Day, the group declared for the first time it will be helping to encourage local residents to finish law school by offering a financial incentive. All residents in the county are eligible, and the program applies to any law student who has completed at least one year of law school.

“The Bar recognizes its professional obligation to the community by offering this fund to college students that have a desire to become an attorney and that are admitted to a law school. So we established this scholarship as a way to provide financial assistance to those local college students,” said Bar Scholarship Committee member, James G. Cushman.
