BROOME COUNTY - A Norwich man led Broome County police on a high-speed car chase through Vestal that ended up with the suspect ditching his vehicle and fleeing on foot.

The Broome County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Jeremy S. Hale, 20, Wales Drive, Norwich, after he led them on a high speed chase along several routes and off the highway in his blue four-door sedan.

Hale faces several charges, including first-degree reckless endangerment, resisting arrest, fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, unlawful fleeing of a police dog, unlawful possession of marijuana and reckless driving.

Police attempted to pull the vehicle over for “acting suspiciously,” but did not release a specific reason for the stop, which took place at 4:10 a.m., Thursday.

Johnson City Police also participated in the chase and while in the city, Hale’s passenger, Ramale Mortise, leapt from the car while it slowed to make a turn.
