Guernsey Hosts Free Family Concert

NORWICH – Known for his musical mix of contemporary folk and pop, one nationally renowned talent is scheduled to perform locally in June. Guernsey Memorial Library, with the support of the Chenango County Coucil of the Arts, and others will present Tom Chapin in concert on the back patio of the library at 7 p.m., Saturday June 30.

Chapin has been entertaining for over 30 years and has composed 18 compact discs using numerous musical styles. His music is known to amuse as well as enlighten audiences of all ages. He uses an array of styles and personal touch when singing at coffee houses, outdoor festivals or in front of symphony orchestras.

The New York Times calls Chapin “one of the great personalities in contemporary folk music.” He has recorded seven albums of adult-oriented material, with his eighth in progress.

Tom has gained widespread critical and popular acclaim for his recordings aimed at four to eleven year-olds and their families. Tom along with collaborators John Forster, Michael Mark and Jon Cobert, have created a body of songs which are quickly becoming children’s classics.
