Rental registry hearing tonight

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Common Council will hold what could be its last public hearing on the proposed rental registry at 7 p.m. tonight. Last week, the council received the proposed ordinance to amend the City of Norwich Minimum Standards for Housing, City of Norwich Code Chapter 50.

Copies of the amended document are available at the City Hall Codes Office, the Norwich Fire Department and on the City of Norwich Web site at

While the council has kept many of the same minimum standards in place, they have changed the document to include the rental registration and have made the fees and penalties for non-compliance stricter.
