Greene 4, Oxford 1

GREENE – Greene was well aware of Oxford’s capabilities, and didn’t underestimate the improved Blackhawks in the least.

The Trojans (6-4) received two goals from Haley Burns and another from Megan McDermott to grab a 3-0 lead within the first 14 minutes. Greene received a big boost with the return of sophomore Shelby Averett, who missed the last two games with an injury. Averett picked up two assists.

“We’ve learned to not take anyone lightly,” said Greene coach Randy Smith. “We knew coming in that because (Oxford) beat Unadilla Valley and we lost to Unadilla Valley, they would come in feeling they could beat us. I told our girls to not let that happen.”
