SHERBURNE – Gilligan’s Island in Sherburne was the place to be for good food, good laughs and good company Saturday. The Sherburne Wheelers, an all-terrain vehicle club, met with Republican candidate for governor John Faso to further discuss the riding group’s ideas they have for New York State.

The Sherburne Wheelers, a family orientated, responsible riding group, has come up with a plan to aid the state’s economy.

The Wheelers have 30 current members, most of whom attend Saturday’s event. Among the riders attending were also men and women from three other riding groups, The Black River Valley Wheelers, The Soggy Bottom Wheelers, and The Tug Hill Wheelers, many of whom are from the Tug Hill Region.

Sherburne Wheelers President Lex Danyluk and his wife Donna rallied the riders together to propose an idea that they hoped may tie in with Faso’s campaign.

ATV riders are trying to get the same regulations and rights that snowmobiles have. The riders hope to get a state-wide trail system in place.

The group does not have access to many of the trails that snowmobiles do or access to roads. They border ride on privately owned property with the permission of homeowners. The Wheelers think that if there were incentives for homeowners to let the riders use their property, then New York State could benefit.
