FEMA Office Opens In Bainbridge

CHENANGO COUNTY - A disaster assistance service center opened its doors this morning at 9 a.m in the Bainbridge Town Hall located on North Main Street in the village, according to Emergency Services Coordinator Matt Beckwith.

The new office will be open until 8 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day, 7 days a week in order to provide resources disaster assistance to homeowners, renters and small businesses.

Representatives from the following agencies will be on hand to discuss federal and state aid packages: the Department of Labor, Chenango County Social Services, Chenango County Division of Housing, the New York State Insurance Department, Chenango County Mental Health Department, Chenango County Office of Children and Family Services and the American Red Cross.

Beckwith said he is working with state officials to open up a Federal Emergency Management Office in Norwich.

More than 3,200 flood victims have applied for disaster assistance with the Federal Emergency Management Agency, according to New York State and federal officials.
