NORWICH — The "From Trash to Treasure" gallery will have its opening reception tonight at 5:30 p.m. in the Mariea Brown and Raymond Loft Galleries at the Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.

The show features discarded artworks salvaged by local collector John Antonowicz.

"It’s a show of found art. So it’s just pieces that people threw away, and John Antonowicz, he saw something about them and kind of rescued them from the trash," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller. "So it’s really interesting how eclectic it all is. It’s all kinds of different pieces, and a little bit of 3D pieces, too. So it’s really very interesting."

Antonowicz said the art was discovered in many different places, from storage units to trash cans, but he felt the pieces were worth saving.
