Afton Baseball Wins Eighth Straight Game; Defeats Greene

GREENE – The Afton Crimson Knights continue to have a hot streak on their hands and extended it to eight straight wins as they defeated Greene 11-2 on Wednesday. Afton sits in second place in the MAC behind an unbeaten Unatego/Franklin team.

Afton got things started with four runs in the first, added three more runs in the second, and finished it off with four in the fifth inning off seven total hits. Matt Carmen led the team as he went 3-for-4 with each single, driving in a run to have three RBIs. Carmen also stole two bases as teammate Ryan Wright stole three and scored three runs. Justin Reeves drove in two runs and also scored two runs as Carter Burns and Cooper Warren both had an RBI. Braydon Baciuska went 2-for-4 with an RBI as well. Errors by both teams also scored runs.

Greene got on the board in the bottom of the first inning and added another run in the fourth. Greene scored two runs on four hits with two hits from Lincoln Youngs. The first run scored on an error in the bottom of the first while Cooper Davis drove in a run in the fourth off an RBI single. Aiden Carter also had a hit in the loss.
