NORWICH – On Wednesday, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team hosted Oneonta on senior night. Norwich honored its lone senior, Madalyn Quattrocchi, prior to the game start. Quattrocchi had pitched a no-hitter in the previous game against Harpursville. Norwich fell to Oneonta 16-6.

Most of Norwich’s runs scored were unearned due to scoring on five passed balls and one wild pitch was credited as an earned run, showing smart base running for the offense. The Purple Tornado also reached base eight times on walks, while Loralee Brown, Ava-Rose Cirigliano, and Caitlin Wetterhahn each had one hit.

Quattrocchi and Wetterhahn split time on the mound for the Purple Tornado. Quattrocchi earned the start and went three innings as Wetterhahn finished the final four. Both combined with nine strikeouts with Quattrocchi striking out six batters.
