Track And Field: Norwich, BG, And UV Attend NY/PA Invite

WINDSOR - The Norwich, Bainbridge-Guilford, and Unadilla Valley outdoor track and field teams attended the NY/PA Invitational over the weekend in Windsor. Ithaca won the boys meet while Sidney took first for the girls. The B-G boys tied for ninth with Newark Valley while UV tied with Solvay for 22nd. The UV girls came in 17th while Norwich took 21st and B-G behind in 22nd.

NORWICH:

This was the second meet for Norwich this season after having a dual meet on Tuesday in Ithaca. Norwich's Josey Ryan got things started with a sixth place finish in the girls' 100 meter dash with a time of 14.32 seconds. Emilia Pepe and Kyra Brunick-Davis both competed in the 800 meter run, where Pepe came in 15th and Brunick-Davis in 18th. For the top Norwich male runners, Caden Sutton finished 10th in the boys' 800 meter run with a time of 2:11.50.

Norwich had strong fielders on the day with Drew Westervelt taking 10th in both the shot put (36-0.75) and in the discus throw (107-9). Teammate Jack Barnes came in ninth place in the discus throw with a throw of 107 feet, 11 inches, setting a new personal best. Olivia Palmer also set a new personal best in the girls' discus with a throw of 79-4 for seventh place. Lara Tefft finished 15th with a throw of 69-6. Tefft also finished fifth in the shotput with a throw of 29 feet, five inches.
