Norwich Softball Falls To Waverly

WAVERLY – On Thursday, the Norwich Purple Tornado softball team traveled to Waverly for a non-league match-up. While Waverly had the overall 13-1 advantage, Norwich saw a little improvement in the second game of the season.

Norwich’s only run came in the final at-bats with good base running from Ava-Rose Cirigliano. Cirigliano reached base on a walk before stealing both second and third. She scored on a wild pitch during Caitlin Wetterhahn’s at-bat. Emma Palmer collected the lone hit for Norwich with a single to right field in the top of the second inning while Norwich also reached base four times by walk.

Caitlin Wetterhahn pitched a complete game, where she struck out four batters in the loss.

Norwich (0-2) will play its home opener on Wednesday, April 3 at 11 a.m. against Chenango Valley.
