NORWICH – After a big tie-breaker win against Chenango Forks, the Norwich Purple Tornado golf team hosted Windsor for the first divisional match and for their 2023 home opener. Norwich stuck together and picked up their second win of the season with a 226-253 victory.

Jacob Dowdall led all golfers with a 42 and had also shot the same score against Forks the day before. Jacob Morris and Julien Smith finished behind him and both shot a 44.

Matthew Brunick (46) and Braden Reid (50) capped off the day for Norwich’s top scorers. After his score decided Tuesday’s tie-breaker against Forks, Aidan Stafford was back in contention again, but finished one stroke above Reid with a 51 and his score was not needed at that time. However, Stafford looks to keep striving to reach the top in the next matches to come.

Windsor’s scores ranged from a 49 to a 53.

Norwich (2-0) wraps up its first week of matches this morning against Oneonta at 11 a.m.
