SHERBURNE – The Sherburne American Legion Auxiliary erected 85 American flags beside the memorial walkway in front of Gaines Park for two weeks surrounding Veterans Day, with each flag dedicated to a local veteran and displaying their name, service branch, and conflicts served.

The flags will adorn the memorial walkway during Sherburne's Veterans Day service on Sunday at 11:11 a.m.

Sherburne American Legion Auxiliary President Angela Jones said she was inspired to erect flags dedicated to veterans as part of a fundraising project for the legion auxiliary after seeing a similar display in another village. She said originally their goal was to have 25 flags, but they ended up easily surpassing that goal with 85 flags dedicated to local veterans.
