Blue Devils steal the crown for the 9th annual Greene soccer tournament

GREENE – The perfect season is down the drain, Greene’s previously undefeated and state-ranked boys soccer team fell victim to the Chenango Forks Blue Devils at 3-1 in the finals of their home tournament on Saturday, September 30.

However, despite the loss, a devastating thing whether it is number one or 10, Greene is hoping to be better off with the loss – learning and continuing to grow from the minor setback.

The opening round of the tournament, played in Greene on Friday, September 29, saw Greene take down Sherburne-Earlville at 7-0 and Chenango Forks defeat Afton at 8-0.

Round 1: Greene defeated Sherburne Earlville 7-0

With a halftime score of 4-0, the Trojans dominated the visiting Marauders – managing 15 shots on goal to S-E’s three.

Scoring a hat-trick in the win was Greene’s Mike Repp. Spencer Klumpp added two goals and one assist, with Brandon Whitaker taking a goal as well. Bobby Mills and Bradley Taft each added an assist – with Isaac Trass tacking on two assists.

Notably, S-E unfortunately added an own goal to the mix.
