Annual Norwich Turkey Trot set for another year

NORWICH - This Sunday, November 22, marks the 34th year of the Norwich Family YMCA’s Turkey Trot. This year’s race is expected to gather over 550 runners for the annual 5K.

With a start time of 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 22, the race is open for any runner or walker of any age. “This year we have runners from ages nine to 89 in the race,” said Norwich YMCA’s Fitness Director Shannon Gawronski. “We’ll get runners from all over to come and compete here.”

As always, volunteers have come from far and wide to help make sure the event runs smoothly. Gawronski says that their primary concern this year, as it is every year is the safety of the runners. “Our biggest job is to keep the runners safe on the course,” Gawronski said. “The volunteers will be helping make sure that everyone stays on course as well as stays safe.”
