Norwich

NORWICH - In their first official game yesterday, August, 31, the Norwich Purple Tornado took on Unatego at home on the turf. Scoring late in the second half, Norwich took their first win of the season in exciting fashion.

Scoring late in the second half was Norwich's Luis Diaz. Diaz took the ball down the field and netted it for the game's only score. "It was a pretty evenly matched game," said Norwich Assistant Coach Matt Leach. "Unatego came out pretty well but we ended up with the win."

Unatego wasn't without chances to score either, creating nine total saves for Norwich keeper Keegan Prime. Unatego's defense wasn't without rest either with their keeper Mark Maruszewjki registering 11 saves.

"It was a solid win for us," Leach said. "Its early in the season so there's still a lot of good things to come."

Norwich will take the pitch again when they travel to Chenango Forks to take on the Blue Devils on their home turf.
