PLYMOUTH - This weekend, August 22 through 23, the Canasawacta Country Club held their annual Club Championship. It was a tight race in which Tom Muserilli edged out some stiff competition to take home top honors.

A beautiful weekend for golf ended Sunday afternoon as Tom Muserilli beat out longtime members an former champions Paul Brunick and Bob Branham for the top spot in the Club Championship. Brunick won last year’s championship and was looking to repeat while Branham has won the tournament multiple times before. This is Muserilli’s first win at Canasawacta. “Tom shot a 64 in his first round.” said Club President Tim Carson. “That’s his low round for the year and the lowest at the course for the year, a 64 here or anywhere is very impressive.”

“I played really well the first round,” said Tom Muserilli. “It was my short game that really saved me. I didn’t always get the ball where I wanted it and having to go up and down the green was tough. I’m very happy with the way my short game held up.”

Finishing seven strokes under par on the first round of the tournament, Muserilli kept the magic going and shot a 66 in the first round of the final day of the tournament which is a 36 hole day where the golfers have to play back to back rounds.
