BAINBRIDGE – Bainbridge-Guilford sophomore pitcher, Zach Ouimet, authored his best outing as a varsity player tossing a two-hit shutout in Friday's win over visiting Sidney.

Ouimet outdueled the Warriors' number one hurler, Zak Green, striking out seven, walking one, and surrendering three basehits. Ouimet was backed by the Bobcats' error-free defense.

"Zach was just outstanding," said B-G coach Tim Mattingly. "He kept the ball down, he pitched away, and he hit the corners. He gave up just three hits to a quality team, and our defense was absolutely solid."

B-G's offense was also opportunistic scoring single runs in the third and sixth innings. Austin Carr reached on an infield error in the third, moved to second on Cameron Luca's single, advanced to third on Kyle Hanvey's flyout, and came home on a double steal.

Luca attempted to steal second with two outs, and on the throw down to second, Carr broke for home. The throw back to the plate was slightly off line allowing Carr to score.

Three innings later, Hanvey started the inning with a single. Trevor Halaquist laid down a perfect sacrifice bunt, and the speedy Hanvey advanced all the way to third. After an intentional walk to Ouimet, Ryan Jones hit a groundball back to Green.

Green threw to second to start a double play, but Jones beat the throw to first, and Hanvey came in to score on the play.

B-G (4-3) hosts Unadilla Valley today.
