NEW BERLIN – Unadilla Valley embarked on a 19-0 run over a six-minute span of the first and second quarter to advance past Oxford in the first round of the Unadilla Valley Tournament.

After Oxford's Angelo Gonzalez hit a spot-up 18-footer to make it 7-4, UV closed the first stanza with seven straight points, the last two buckets coming from Brett Hanslmaier.

From there, UV feasted on Oxford turnovers scoring numerous times in transition.

Tyler Simmons, Ethan Grey, Sam Tuttle, and Hanslmaier all had easy layups, and Johnny Schermerhorn canned a three to make it 26-4 with four minutes left in the first half.

"We played really good defense in the first half, and we moved the ball well on offense to get some easy shots inside," said UV coach Matt Osborne.

Hanslmaier scored 15 to lead the Storm, Hank deGlee netted 11, and Grey scored 10.

Oxford's Kevin Davis pumped in 13 to lead his club, and Harry Oliver bucketed 10.

In the opening game, Sherburne-Earlville survived three Oneonta shot attempts in the final 10 seconds to hold off Oneonta and advance to the finals.

S-E's Brady Elderkin completed a three-point play after a drive to the basket to make it 47-42 with 1:47 left After an Albert Odero hoop for Oneonta, Ben Khoury scored on a layup with just over a minute remaining to give S-E its final points.
