Cornell students visit Raymond

GREENE – Living up to its slogan, The Raymond Corporation continues to strive “above and beyond” as the Toyota-owned North American leader in electric lift trucks joined forces recently with grad students to assist in furthering their education and enriching knowledge base in the workplace of the real world.

On February 12, 2014, students participating in the semester in strategic operations (SSO) immersion program from The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management at Cornell University in Ithaca, New York, toured The Raymond Corporation’s manufacturing facility in Greene.

Students observed first hand how Raymond utilizes the Toyota Production System (TPS) principles to achieve operational excellence in manufacturing.

“One of the TPS principles is the process of continuous improvement. Students are able to observe how management at Raymond is fully committed to this process, how the employees are motivated to participate and the manner in which the results are communicated to the company,” said Nagesh Gavirneni, Associate Professor of Operations Management at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management.
