NORWICH – The inaugural FURY Home Run Blast For Hunger softball tournament came down to the final out in the final inning in a thrilling conclusion to the two-day fast-pitch tournament Sunday at Veterans Park.

The Southern Tier Smoke of Elmira Heights made up a 5-3 deficit in the seventh to Eyota Nation (Endicott) with a three-run rally to win the six-team tournament.

"The tournament was a great success," said Rick Condon, tournament director and co-head coach of the host FURY 16U ballclub. "The teams that entered the tournament had a great time and were very receptive to how we ran the tournament. We had a number of comments from parents of other teams who commended us on how well it was run for a first-year tournament."
