NORWICH – Helping others ... that is what the Norwich Food Pantry and Roots & Wings do. And with the school year ending, many more families will be needing help as their children will not be receiving the breakfast and lunch programs that school provides.
As such, the United Methodist Churches of Plymouth, North Norwich and Preston are coordinating an event to raise awareness (and funds) for the Norwich Food Pantries.
Tonight, East Side Park in Norwich, there will be an evening of musical entertainment. The event will begin around 5 p.m. (give or take set up time) and include several groups of (but not limited to) Christian music.
The band Faithful Folk, led by the Rev. Tobias Anderson, Pastor of the Redeemer Lutheran Church of New Paltz, NY, is the featured musical group.
A singing group, The Remants, will perform some contemporary Christian music, while guitar soloist Emilee Smith – who writes a lot of her own songs – will perform.
Guitar soloist Austin Friot is expected to perform as well. The Baptist Church and the Norwich Diner will have restrooms available to the public.
The business community of Norwich has already begun to respond with donations. Fred’s Inn, Chiarino Insurance Agency, Community Bank, N.A., Seasons Gift Shop, Skillin’s Jewelers, Salslice Whole Foods & Herbs and the Norwich Diner have all committed support. Nina’s restaurant, through their “Give Back Nights” program, will donate 10 percent of their sales on Tuesday June 18 from 4 to 10 p.m. to this event. The "Give Back Night" Coupon to qualify for the donation will be available in East Side Park during the music program.
Free will offerings may be made at the event. In addition, the public is asked to bring for donation canned food or other non-perishables. Collection containers will be placed around the park. For those who would like to donate but cannot attend the event, a check made payable to the Plymouth United Methodist Church (with Food Pantry Donation in the memo) can be mailed to 168 Old Co R d 16,. Plymouth NY 13832
So bring your chair, your canned food and plan to enjoy an evening of wonderful music.
