Time for something new, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is back for a few new DVDs and even a brand new Toddster’s Take. The Toddster was able to take a look at “The Last Stand.” This is the new Arnold Schwarzenegger movie that came out over the weekend and I even got to meet the Barnes family, who is running the Colonia Theater. More on them later. Here we go to see what we see.
New on DVD
End of Watch - No one said that being a police officer was an easy job. Dan Taylor (Jake Gyllenhaal) and Mike Zavala (Michael Pena) have been partners for awhile now and they know that what they do isn’t easy. The officers go about doing what they think is their normal everyday job. They run across what they think is just a normal drug bust until they find out that a gang is moving in. The two officers have been targeted by the gang to even go so far as to go after their families. Will Dan and Mike be able to stop them before their jobs spill into their lives? Gyllenhaal has some great DVDs from the archives including “Source Code,” “Brothers,” and “Love and Other Drugs” (starring Anne Hathaway) available in stores now.
For A Good Time,Call - Remember the old cliche “The enemy of my enemy is my friend.” This couldn’t become more true when Lauren (Lauren Powell) and Katie (Ari Gaynor) are reunited after a number of years and when they did know each other, they really didn’t like one another. Now both of them have their eye on an apartment in New York but neither of them can afford it alone. So they teamup but at first they can’t find a way to make enough money. Until Katie comes up with a way to do it. She talks Lauren into creating a hotline that people can call that helps them live out certain fantasies they might have. Lauren can’t believe she let herself get talked into this. She discovers, though, she is pretty good at it. Can Katie and Lauren get what they want? Another crazy comedy on the way from theaters is “21 and Over” coming soon.
