I write in support of Joe McBride for County Court Judge. I have practiced law in Chenango County for 39 years. In this time I have regularly appeared before the last five County Court Judges. Accordingly, I know the qualifications necessary for the office and fully aware of its importance.
The County Court Judge has a great influence on the quality of life in Chenango County. The Judge supervises the proper handling of estates in Surrogate Court. The Judge also handles various family disputes regarding custody, support, visitation etc. in Family Court. Another important function of the County Court Judge is to preside over felony level criminal matters.
It is imperative to have a County Court Judge who is well rounded and has experience in solving life’s many problems. Joe is first and foremost a family man. He is devoted to his wife of 28 years, Lou Ann, and has one son, Peter, who recently completed grad school and one son, Michael, in college. In addition to the demanding work as our District Attorney, he has made time to be on various boards and committees, including his present service to the public as a member of the Norwich School Board.
Joe McBride is the only candidate who has tried dozens of jury trials. He has been one of the principle participants in nearly every major felony case in Chenango County for the past 15 years. He is an expert in the rules of evidence, which are numerous and change constantly. In his role as District Attorney, he has made Chenango County a better place to live for our families through his prosecutorial efforts. While in private practice, Joe also represented clients in the Surrogate Court and Family Court. He has the experience, integrity, and temperament for this job. I highly recommend Joe McBride for the County Court Judge.
