BID seeks volunteers to help spruce up downtown

NORWICH The Norwich Business Improvement District is calling on city residents, volunteers and organizations to lend a hand as it takes strides in beautifying the downtown area during the annual Main Street Sweep.

The event will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 5. Any and all volunteers are welcome to join when the group meets in the parking lot at the former location of the Dollar Tree, across from NBT on South Broad Street.

Tasks on the to-do list include: Pulling weeds along the edges of sidewalks; picking up trash and cigarette butts cluttering the grass and walkways; sweeping parking lots; and washing windows of vacant storefronts throughout the main business district in downtown Norwich.
