Oxford appoints new superintendent

OXFORD – The Oxford Board of Education has appointed Dr. David Richards to the position of Superintendent of Schools. Dr. Richards will begin on July 1.

“The whole board is looking forward to welcoming Dr. Richards and his wife to the community and for him to begin,” said school board president Dawn Golden. “We feel he will be a very good fit for the schools.”

Dr. Richards is currently working as the Middle-High School principal in Deposit, and said he would like to finish out the year before beginning a new position.

According to Golden, while in Deposit, Dr. Richards increased the graduation rate as well as the eligibility rate of athletes and said she believes he will “bring a lot to Oxford.”
