CLINTON – Down the majority of the game and struggling to score, S-E turned up the offense in the final quarter to rally past Clinton Tuesday.

Randy Briggs scored a season-high 17 points for the Marauders, who clinched at least a tie for the Center State Conference Division One title with the win. Briggs had nine points in the last quarter, and his overall offensive play keyed the comeback. “Randy really took over the game in the final quarter with his scoring and passing,” said S-E coach Kevin Vibbard. “He’s looked to get his teammates involved all season and pass first. With the game on the line, he took control of the team.”

Briggs’ three-pointer tied the game at 33-33 early in the fourth and Sam Caton had the go-head basket with 4:53 left in the game. Just over three minutes later, S-E lefty sharpshooter, Paul Romanenko, delivered the dagger burying a three-pointer that raised the Marauders’ lead to 43-35.
