NORWICH – With the sheer volume of entertainment on hand year after year at the Colorscape Chenango arts festival, it might seem that children are overlooked when it comes to fun activities to keep them interested and occupied. Thanks to Colorscape’s Literary Arts Booth, West Park Interactive Stage and Golden Artist Color’s Art Zones 1 and 2, however, that’s simply not the case, according to Colorscape volunteer Erica Kwasnik.
“I think it’s good for there to be something for kids to get involved in, not necessarily just watching the music or checking out all of the art,” stated Kwasnik. “It’s important for them to focus on other art forms as well, and literacy is a lifelong skill.”
This year will see the return of children’s author Suzanne Bloom, who will be on hand from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to sign copies of her latest offering, “Feeding Friendsies,” which she also illustrated.
“I absolutely love Suzanne’s work ... I love her artwork, it’s just so soft and gentle,” said First Edition owner Lisa Mody, who never misses a chance to catch-up with Bloom. “We’ve always said we would do this even if there weren’t customers interested in buying a book. We just have so much fun sitting and talking between signings.”
