Cyclones' A, C teams win league titles

NORWICH – Playing before a large crowd at Alumn Field Sunday, the Norwich Cyclones’ A and C teams won Tri-Valley League Pope Warner titles, and each team finished with unbeaten regular season records.

The Cyclones’ C team downed previously undefeated Whitesboro 6-0 for the title.

The Cyclones enjoyed field position the first half in a defensive struggle with Marcus Benjamin reaching pay dirt on a two-yard plunge in the second quarter.

The Cyclones played stiff “D” the entire game holding the Warriors at the eight-yard line in the fourth quarter on stops by Ty Rifanburg and Benjamin. Cameron Ivan had an interception and a fine return, and Ryan Borden had a key fumble recovery. Carter Rudnitski, Drew Walsh, Tim Thompson, Alex Wehrli, Zackary Mills, Owen Blackman, along with the entire defensive unit, held the Warriors out of the end zone.
