Unadilla Valley I 4, Oneonta Red 3

ONEONTA – Unadilla Valley 1 survived Oneonta Red’s rally in the bottom of the seventh Monday night to improve to 8-0 in the Otsenango Pony League.

Brandon Miles pitched 6 2-3 innings for UV to earn the victory, and Brett Smith fanned the final Oneonta batter to pick up the save.

Smith had two hits including a solo homer in the sixth the would serve as the winning run. Brandon Kuhn was 2-for-3 with an RBI, while Kurt Haycook and Kerry Smith added RBI singles. “Both teams played awesome defense and did the little things right for having wet conditions,” said UV coach Mike Smith. “The Oneonta coaching staff is doing a great job with a young team, and they showed a lot of class.”
