Locke throws no-hitter for Brockport

BROCKPORT – Steve Locke was swarmed by his Brockport State teammates last weekend after he accomplished what is believed a first in school history.

The junior pitcher, a graduate of Oxford Academy, threw a no-hitter in the first game of a doubleheader against Oswego State last Saturday, April 10.

Locke struck out 11, walked two, and faced just 29 batters, two over the minimum in the Golden Eagles’ 3-0 win. For his outstanding performance, Locke was named SUNYAC (State University of New York Athletic Conference) pitcher of the week for week ending April 11.

Locke had five consecutive strikeouts as he retired the second and third batter in the fourth, and struck out the side in the fifth. Seven of his strikeouts were swinging, and he added three assists and one putout.

Locke has a team-high three wins on the season and sports a 3-2 overall mark in seven appearances. As a senior at Oxford, Locke helped his team win the Section IV, Class C title, and advance to the New York State Class C semifinals.
