Arcuri secures funds for Chenango County airport

WASHINGTON, DC – Funding via U.S. Rep. Michael Arcuri’s office and the Federal Aviation Agency has come through for a new taxiway lane that will serve 10 new T-hangars planned for the Lt. Warren Eaton Airport.

While the Congressman released the news yesterday of a $450,000 cash infusion to the county’s airport, the amount will only be as high as the lowest bid received for the work, said Airport Administrator Donald MacIntosh. Chenango County already accepted a bid in February from Burrell’s Excavating Inc. of Norwich to do the work for $271,000, plus $50,000 for inspection and engineering services.

The county previously received a $300,000 grant from the Federal Aviation Agency to build the hangars. That project is expected to be bid in the fall, according to MacIntosh.

What is the plan? How will these facilities be used? For the last remaining company big shots to fly out of town as they close up shop?
