Owego 48, Norwich 42

OWEGO – One terrific offensive quarter for Norwich was not enough to overcome three subpar stanzas as the Tornado fell below .500 for the first time this season on Monday night.

The Tornado put 24 points on the board in the fourth quarter to more than double the output of the first 24 minutes, and closed Owego's lead of 18 points to as little as three points.

"Our offense depends a lot on good dribble penetration, and we did not do a good job of that for three quarters," said Norwich coach Josh Bennett.

Brittany Rando, one of the top three-point shooters in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference, had three more trifectas to raise her total to 31 on the season, and she finished with 22 points to spearhead her team's offense.

Molly DeMellier hit two threes in the last quarter, Hailey Dietrich scored six in the last quarter, and Cassie Sutton had all five of her points during that time frame to lead Norwich's comeback effort.

DeMellier led Norwich (6-7) with 11 points, and Dietrich had a season-high 10.

Norwich plays at Maine-Endwell Wednesday, and hosts Owego on Saturday afternoon.
