Police name victim in fatal North Nowich accident

NORTH NORWICH – New York State Police investigators have released the name of a City of Norwich man killed Monday morning when his car swerved across the center divide and into the path of an oncoming tractor trailer.

Police said Leolin M. Parker, 48, was found dead by the first emergency crews at the scene around 8:11 a.m.

Crews rushed to the scene of the fatal head-on collision along State Highway 12 between a tractor trailer and Parker’s four-door sedan.

The North Norwich and Norwich Fire Departments responded to the scene along with police from the New York State Troopers and the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident occurred near the intersection of Wilson Bates Road between Norwich Pharmaceuticals at 6826 State Highway 12 and a railroad crossing about 500 yards north of the business’ entrance.
