Weekly bike, car and truck night begins Saturday

NORWICH – Starting Saturday night, The Norwich Elks Lodge Community Activities Committee will hold their first Saturday night cruise-in event in East Park in downtown Norwich.

Elks Lodge member Paul Utter explained that drivers of bikes, cars and trucks are invited to come to the event, which will begin at 5 p.m. every Saturday, starting May 2.

“A lot of other cities in the area do similar events, and we thought, there’s really no outlet for local people,” Utter explained. Fellow Elks Club member Rick Stark explained that he attended other area events, like the Wednesday bike night in Sherburne. “I just wondered, why can’t we do that in Norwich?” Stark said. The two explained that they don’t want to compete with the other area events, but to work cooperatively with them. That’s why they chose to hold the event on Saturday nights.
