“This one felt like a win,” said Greene coach Dave Gorton. “We came back time after time and showed a lot of guts.”

Trailing the Sabers 4-1, Greene plated five in the fifth to take the lead. Dan Carlin stroked a two-run double, while Braeden Williams and Brendan Kinne added RBI singles.

After SV moved in front in the seventh, 7-6, Brian Day had a two-out RBI single to tie the game. Sus Valley again took the lead in the eighth, but Nic Puglisi delivered a timely two-out single to right field scoring Scott Gorton to deadlock the game.

“They made us hit the ball and score our runs,” Gorton said. “We had to earn everything.”

Gorton and Williams had three-hit days, and Carlin added two hits and two ribbies. Greene (1-1-1) hosts Oxford Tuesday.
