Otselic Valley 37, DeRuyter 28

DERUYTER – Otselic Valley bombed away from the outside nailing seven three-pointers – five from Heather Eaton – to open its season with a victory at DeRuyter Tuesday.

Eaton finished with a career-high 26 points on 10-for-20 shooting, while also grabbing nine rebounds. Melinda Schutt also canned a pair of three balls. “They played zone, and if we get the opportunity (to shoot three-pointers), we can make them,” said OV coach Ron Graham. “Defensively, we did a good job, and the young kids are learning.”

OV plays Morrisville-Eaton on Monday.
