Family remembers victim of fatal shooting

SHERBURNE – A guy who always wore a smile and had a love for life are two ways family members say shooting victim Kallin Richards, 24, of New Berlin, will be remembered.

Just two days after the shooting death of Mr. Richards, a member of his family said they are “mourning the passing of someone who was taken away too soon.”

Mr. Richards, who was found dead at 2:40 a.m. at Sherburne Meadows apartments Saturday, suffered fatal gunshot wounds to the heart and liver. He was said by family members to have been “close friends” with his alleged assailant, Joshua T. Story, who has been charged with second degree murder. The source went as far as to say Story and Richards were “best friends.”

Survived by his parents, his fiancee, his son, siblings and numerous other family members along with many close friends, the Richards family says they are still awaiting information about the exact motive and other test results to be available.

Family members say they never saw Mr. Richards without a smile on his face. “He had the biggest blue eyes and the greatest smile,” a family member said. “His son looks just like him.” Family members say Kallin loved spending time with his family, he had a passion for fast cars and generally just loved living life.

there were no drugs in the victims body. alcohol yes. regardless, he did not deserve this. and yes his son has lost. lost out on knowing who is daddy was. he's only 2 and how do you explain this to a two year old and expect them to understand? the past is what it is so leave it alone. the fact is his family is greiving the loss of a loved one. he was only human. I'm sure not everyone's closets are clean.

This is so sad. How can you question whether the child of Mr. Richards has lost. Kallin was a father and a son and was loved by his family. I cant believe the issue of this is drugs. Whether he was involved in drugs or not he didnt deserve to die this way. He was murdered by his friend. My heart goes out to his family and his son. They will be in my prayers

there is nothing in this story that says anything about drugs...so dont go jumping to conclusions. yes drinking was involved but many of us sit home and have a few, there isnt anything wrong with that. the police will figure out the whole story because something isn't right here, if these 2 men were "best friends" as some say. who would shoot their best friend??

Drugs were part of his life. Prison, car thefts, drugs, you can't deny it.
