Underground line good news for Alteren

NORWICH – Burying the NYRI power line would revitalize interest in the Alteren Resort project, Alteren Managing Partner Bill Bobo said Tuesday.

New York Regional Interconnect Inc. is proposing to bury its line on the east hill where developers say the resort would overlook the City of Norwich. Fears that the cables and 115-foot-tall towers would ruin views from hill, located in the Town of Norwich along East River Road, stalled any further progress on the resort, Bobo said.

“Our concern was the aesthetic view,” said Bobo, adding that if the line is to be buried as now proposed, “That would be very good for us ... It would help us significantly.”

Bobo, who was previously unaware of NYRI’s new route proposals, claims the announcement again opens up the project as an attractive investment.

“It will help us significantly revitalize interest,” he said. “But the project never really stopped.”

Alteren is currently advertising a $12.8 million investment package with Greco Real Estate, a Buffalo-based firm.

Another excuse for the fledging "resort". We'll never see the "resort" in our lifetime.

It's great for the so called project that is comming to the town of Norwich but the NYRI line is going to be above ground elsewhere. This would still be bad news to everyone else. ALL SAY NO TO NYRI!!!!! EVEN UNDERGOUND DOESN'T MAKE IT SAFER, ALSO OUT OF SIGHT DOESN'T MEAN OUT OF MIND HERE FOLKS!!!
