Noose found outside classroom at UV

NEW BERLIN – In an area where civil and social injustices as well as hate crimes are not often seen nor heard of, faculty, staff and students got an eye-opening experience last week as a noose was found hanging outside the only African American teacher’s classroom at Unadilla Valley High School.

According to school administrators, a hand-made noose created from clothesline was found hanging on the door knob of a classroom.

Mark Montgomery, an instructor with the Liberty Partnership program at Unadilla Valley, was said to have been shown the noose during the day on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
