OXFORD – The Oxford Historical Society (OHS) opened its museum doors on Saturday, July 28, in recognition of the Oxford Blackhawk Alumni Association (OBAA)’s 4th annual Alumni Weekend. There were pennants, pictures and other school memorabilia on display causing quite a lot of excitement. Oxford classmates like Thelma Thompson Townsend and Thelma Winner Salisbury, from the Class of ’54, perused, reminisced and chuckled over a table full of coveted, old Oxford Blackhawk yearbooks. Don Fairchild visited from Trumansburg to see and photograph the baseball he signed in 1949, the year he graduated. Ken and Kathy Lints ran into old school pals, and three generations of Biermann-Races perused through old Academy photos brought out especially for the OBAA weekend. These Oxford alumni members and many other visitors had a great time at the museum, several becoming members. Many vowed to return for the upcoming meeting and annual Ice Cream Social.
