Tornado band entertains at Disney

FLORIDA – Members of the Norwich High School "Purple Tornado" Marching Band strutted their stuff down Main Street, U.S.A. at the Walt Disney World Resort in Florida, Feb. 20.

The band was invited to attend and participate in Disney Magic Music Days and perform for an international audience of theme park guests.

The band performed prior to the "Disney Dreams Come True" parade. The thousands of guests who lined the streets of the Magic Kingdom waiting for the start of the parade, were pleasantly surprised to hear the announcement of the band.

Disney Magic Music Days performance opportunities are open to bands, orchestras, choirs, drill teams, dance ensembles and other performing groups.

High School and Middle School marching bands from numerous locations have been performing at the Walt Disney World Resort since its opening day.

Seventy-five students, along with about 20 chaperones, left Norwich on a blistering February day and headed South for a seven-day tour of warm and sunny Florida. The band’s first destination was Melbourne, Fla. for a brief rehearsal and a day at the beach. The day at the beach was followed by a four-day visit to Walt Disney World.
