“We controlled most of the play and kept it in their end,” said UV coach Matt Osborne. “We just didn’t find the net often, and their goalie (Phil Sanford) made some nice saves for them.”

Oxford 4, Greene 3
GREENE – Oxford beat Sidney for the first time in over a decade earlier this year, and pulled out its first win over Greene Tuesday in nine years.
“I’ll say this to the end of the season, without a doubt Greene is the most technically skilled team in our league,” said Oxford coach Tim Paden. “A win over them is like a sectional win.”
Mike Porter scored the second of his three goals in the first 10 minutes of the second half to pull Greene into a 2-2 tie. On the ensuing kickoff, Taylor Bates hammered in a left-footed shot into the far right netting to move his club ahead. Bates added insurance later in the half touching in a crossing pass.
“I’ve talked about our percentage of shots to goals being miserable this season,” Paden said. “Today it was 50 percent (4-for-8). Anytime you’re around 40 percent, it’s almost unheard of, so to finish at that rate, you can’t ask for anything more.”
Kilean Maynard scored twice in the first half giving Oxford a 2-1 lead.
