Stride of Central New York names Morris resident as new program director

NORWICH – The board of directors of Stride of Central New York, Inc., a non-profit therapeutic riding program located outside of Norwich, recently announced the hiring of Nadine Joy to fill the position of program director.

Stride President Joyce Zummo expressed the enthusiasm and support of members of the board concerning this important step in the further development of this volunteer-based organization now entering its sixth year of operation. Stride’s programs are designed for children and adults with physical and mental disabilities as well as those children who are “at risk.” For Stride students, therapeutic horseback riding is more than just riding around a ring. It’s a way to enrich their lives, and discover a whole new world of adventure, freedom, excitement and responsibility. Most importantly, it provides an overwhelming sense of accomplishment for the riders as well as the volunteers, parents, and instructors.

Among Joy’s responsibilities as program director will be student instruction; coordinating services with psychologists, physical therapists, various youth agencies and the probation department. She will also coordinate the many volunteers needed to operate Stride as well as training and maintaining the health of the Stride horses.
